Teach Me

If we are willing to learn, we are willing to wait. This is true when we try to learn something new, such as a skill. We need to be patient and we need to wait for the moment we could fully understand, and we could apply that understanding to demonstrate the skill.

There is little learning when we rush things. Our understanding is shallow when we tackle things in a hurry. We may tend to disregard significant points along the process because we did not take the time to digest and feel it.

However, when we wait we develop a deeper understanding of the situation and our character is also shaped positively.

The Christian walk is a journey of learning. It has a lot of learning opportunities. It is rich in learning in all aspects of life. There is no wisdom out there that could not be learned from the Bible because God is the supreme author of wisdom. He laid it all down for us in His Word.

How many times have we desired to learn from God or be taught by Him? Have we prayed, “Lord, teach me!”? And if we did, have we waited for God to teach us what we need to learn? It is because learning takes time. When we learn something spiritual and behavioral, it will take more time because our carnal nature drags us away from the spiritual nature. We are slow learners of the ways of God so we must be willing to wait and spend the time to keep learning what is pleasing and honorable to God.

“Show me your ways, Yahweh. Teach me your paths.
Guide me in your truth, and teach me, For you are the God of my salvation, I wait for you all day long.”

– Psalms 25:4-5 (WEB)

May this be our prayer to seek God’s ways and to ask Him to lead us to the path He wants us to take. May we be willing to wait so we may fully learn what God teaches us in every situation.
