How Works Play

In the Christian circle, “salvation by grace” has become a cliche that there are those who disregard the significance of “works” of a person who profess to abide in the Lord Jesus Christ. As true and as real as Jesus who died on the cross is the fact that we can never earn salvation by good works because we fall short of God’s glory and righteousness. But once we believe in Jesus and once we profess to follow Him, our works are the “fruits” of our obedience. When we become a new creation in Jesus, it is our works that prove it. Jesus said these, “You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.” – Matthew 7:16-17. We are recognized by the kind of life we live. Our works give evidence of what is inside of us.
