Peace of Mind

When sleep becomes a luxury in our modern world, it only reflects how destitute our minds and souls have become even with the great advancement in technology and wealth. So many people, young and old, are deprived of sleep. Not that we hate sleep. On the contrary, we long for it, like we long for great ambitions in life. We crave it. We desire it. Yet, it is hard to find. It becomes elusive. Check out in the statistics and we find millions of people around the world in anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. What has gone wrong?

While the world moves fast in its advancement of newer things, it has never offered humanity the inner peace that we need. We seek peace from wealth. We seek peace from relationships. We seek peace from achievements. And we even seek peace from the possessions we have. We are led to believe that when we have acquired them, we may live peacefully. To our great surprise, it is not so. After we have suffered and tried all other ways to gain peace, we then realized that the only way to real peace is God. God alone can give us perfect peace. Because nothing in this world is perfect, it is impossible for anything to be a source of perfect peace. Perfect peace comes from the perfect source. And only God is perfect. Only God is constant. Everything else is temporary. This is the very reason why, without God, we would find happiness temporary. Without Him, we would find peace temporary too. But in Him, we can find that constant peace that is perfect. It is perfect because it is the kind of peace that encompasses all other things in our life. It calms us to the core of our being. Regardless of the situation, we remain peaceful. There is no other peace like this. This is the peace that comes to a person whose mind is stayed on the Lord Jesus Christ.

“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
    because he trusts in you.”
Isaiah 26:3
