Teach me each day, Lord
To speak in truth
To say in honesty
What I need and should.
Help me each day, Lord
To not cower in fear
To succumb to lies
But be honest for real.
Guide me each day, Lord
That I may please You
That I may walk in truth
In all that I say and do.
Bless me each day, Lord
That I give an honest answer
To tell the truth always
Not to impress or to cover.
The truth may hurt but the truth is also like a kiss on the lips. We are rarely fond of the truth. Sometimes we do not like to face the truth. At times we could even have a hard time saying the truth or giving an honest answer. We are trained to water down the truth to something more acceptable to the society. Or, perhaps, we stretch the truth a bit to make it appear more suitable to the hearing of others. It is never easy to be honest especially if we fear that we may be hurting the person by telling the truth. But giving an honest answer at the right timing and in a proper manner is actually a sign of deep affection and sincere friendship. It also signifies that when a person is capable of speaking honestly, he or she is trustworthy. Only a true friend could be truly honest with us. And if we are a true friend, we should also be honest to our friends. Honesty is caring. Honesty is sweetness. Honesty is loving others.
“An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.”
– Proverbs 24:26 (WEB)
As followers of Christ, we are also instructed to live in the truth because we follow the God of truth. That also implies that we seek to be honest and truthful in our dealings from day to day because when we are in Christ we put on a new nature as we are regenerated by God’s Spirit. We do not anymore take pleasure in lying.
“Don’t lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings, and have put on the new man, who is being renewed in knowledge after the image of his Creator…”
– Colossians 3:9-10 (WEB)

Nah.. charged guilty.. this is one of my weakness. I can readily tell the truth for as long as nobody will get hurt. However, when it comes to confrontation, and i know somebody will get hurt, i am moving backwards with fear in my heart. Though i find that technique (wait for ryt timing and say in a proper manner) very effective because i am using it, sometimes when the response is still negative, i tend to feel weak and very sad. I’m working on a new technique, as an additional to those mentioned. I am telling them that it’s very natural to act that way however, in the process, others are affected, something like that.. as much as i want to really be honest, I’m still contemplating as how to manage confrontation, because im very weak emotionally. But because we live for Christ, i need to be brave to face this weakness, i must try my very best to live in truth.
Thank you much mam debs for this.. I love you..😘😘😘

Another way of walking in the tofth is to investigate and decipher the lies. Here is a blog presentation I made about how I “investigate” spiritual and historial things in question.
