Target the fruits you will bear. Like a farmer who wanted to tend the farm and who makes sure that his tree will bring plenty of harvest, we should also have the same mind and intention in our Christian faith. In our faith in Jesus Christ when we live from day to day, it is important that we set conscious targets of what kind of fruit we want to bear and if we are like a tree filled with good fruits.
Wether we choose it or not, we always bear some form or type of โfruitโ according to the way we live. We can be a bad tree that bears bitter, sour, or bland fruits or a tree that bears healthy and sweet fruits.
As Christians we are to live and thrive in a good soil and bear much good fruits that are pleasing to God. We can only bear much fruit and bear the fruit that pleases God when we walk obediently in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ. When we obediently walk in the leading of His Spirit.
โBut the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. If we live by the Spirit, letโs also walk by the Spirit.โ

Be filled with fruits of righteousness. What grace upon grace and manifold of graces we have received from God through Jesus Christ our Lord because we were given righteousness. Apart from God, we are doomed and we could not be righteous. Apart from God we could not work out righteousness that pleases God. The very righteousness that we need and that is true and pure comes from God. It is God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross that made us righteous. So, when we come to God and put our faith in Jesus Christ, we are cleansed from sin and guilt and we are discharged from our death sentence. We are given a second life and a second chance at life to live in righteousness in Jesus Christ.
The Apostle Paul prayed for the Philippians to be filled with fruits of righteousness.
โThis I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.โ
– Philippians 1:9-11 (WEB)
I always loved the prayers of people in the Bible. The prayers of Paul scattered across the epistles are also one of my favorites. They always point to us the target for Christian living, that is, to live in and for Christ every day.
We can only be filled with fruits of righteousness through Jesus Christ in us. There is absolutely nothing we can add to make us righteous. It is all the work of God in our life. And as we continue to live each day and grow in our faith, it is very crucial that we stay deeply rooted in our faith in Jesus Christ. Let His Word be hidden deeply in our heart. Let His Spirit take dominance in every thing we do. Let His love abound in us. Then, we can consistently bear plenty of fruits of righteousness.
Today, let your fruit of righteousness be sweet, plump, and pleasing as you joyfully and faithfully rely on Jesus to work obedience in you.
Bear fruits of righteousness with a glad heart!
Very nice idea! Do something to bear good fruits like the farmers. I’ll keep this in mind.. we need to be intentional aboit this.
