Seeking God’s Face

God has always been drawing us near to Him. He constantly and consistently makes a way for sinners to meet Him and experience His grace. He draws us near to meet Him in a personal way. Not by sight, as others would like it to be, but by faith as God likes it to be.

Meeting God in this lifetime is the very essence of what living life is all about. Meeting God in eternity is the completion of that essence.

God drew near to us through His Son Jesus Christ. And, Jesus invites anyone and every one to draw near to Him by faith and seek Him.

“Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners. Purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

Seek God’s face. Let it be our life’s theme or goal to seek God’s face. Oftentimes we are only motivated to seek God when we are at the lowest point of life. That is natural. But how blessed it would be when we seek God at all times and in whatever occasion we are facing. In joy or hardship, may seeking God be our flagship of faith.

We must be conscious of the gentle call and prodding of God to seek Him. He does not turn away from us or abandon us willfully, though a time will come when God would render final judgement on man’s sinfulness. While that time is yet to come, we must gear up and respond to His call of seeking His face.

The more you are pressed down by life, seek God. The greater your battle, seek God. The fiercer your troubles in life, seek God. The weaker your faith becomes, seek God. The distant God seems, seek God.

And when in joy, in exultation, in every triumph, in every blessing, and in all that is good, still seek God.

God calls us to seek Him and that is what we must do. No greater joy this life could bring than the joy of seeking God and meeting Him.

“When you said, ‘Seek my face,” my heart said to you, ‘I will seek your face, Yahweh.’ ”
