Victory in the Grave

At the Father’s will, Jesus obeyed
He did not count equality with God
But the Father’s will he prayed,
He, who knew no sin, became sin
As all our sins on him was laid.
Jesus Christ died once for all
His blood he offered and gave,
So that sinful man can live,
For all our debts he paid!
Though Jesus suffered and died,
It is victory in the grave!
Not a tragedy, but a triumph
Over sin, satan, and hell!
Jesus did not stay dead,
He rose to live and reign
My Savior lives forevermore,
No more fear, guilt, or shame!

And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
