God Keeps You

When you have no one else to turn to, remember you have God! And even if you have someone else to turn to, I pray, that you choose to turn to God first. Like a shepherd caring for his flock is how God cares for you. “He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.” – Isaiah 40:11. God is gentle, kind, and loving. In His great love for you, He will carry you and gently lead you. Trust Him.

God cares, protects, redeems, and guides like a shepherd does to his flock. I remember the gracious and loving words of God to His people, Israel, even when they have grievously sinned against Him. “Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away; say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, and will keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.’ For the LORD has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.” – Jeremiah 31:10-11. Like Israel, we also experience “hands that are too strong for us”. They may come in different forms and in different situations. Perhaps, a health problem that persist over the years. A marital rift that brings psychological and emotional trauma. A struggling income that can barely pay off bills. An addiction that you never seem to be able to put off. There are hands in our life that are too strong for us to handle because they sap up our strength. They even cloud our hope for brighter days. These hands which are too strong for us are reminders that we need help. And God is the only permanent and sure help for us. Like how He ransomed and redeemed Israel back from their enemies, God is also able to ransom us from anything that weighs us down and anything that drowns us in the miry pit. Like how God showed His mercy and grace to disobedient Israel, He can also show the same mercy and grace to us. He continuously do so because God is love and God is faithful. God is a loving Shepherd who faithfully cares for His flock. He cares and protects both the strong and the weak. But like a shepherd who guards a weak lamb, He can gather us in His arms and keep us safe, secure, and peaceful! King David knows this full well. He said, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” – Psalm 23:1-3. He can protect us, redeem us, and guide us to the way of hope, blessing, peace, and joy!
