WIN of Life

How has year 2020 been to you? It has been unimaginable for many of us. Who would have thought year 2020 will bring us so many hurdles and life-threatening situation? It felt like we have been trying our best to win survival and thriving through COVID-19 and the problems that come with it. Year 2020 is not a picture of prosperity and wellness. Yet in the many months of being tried with the virus, the confinement at homes, the limited movement in public, and the fears and worries for the future, there are still colorful anecdotes of blessings and winnings through this sad situation. Personally, it may not be a very good year because of the pandemic, but it definitely gave me more things to thank God for. Year 2020 showed me the WIN of life. It is not all about winning in life but it matters that we have win of life. The win of life speaks more of victories in areas where we need positive changes. It points not to material success and prosperity but to triumphant living even in the difficult situations. Win of life is that story that talks about how your heart has found a new meaning and how your mind has opened to new realizations. Above all, win of life is victory over the world through Jesus Christ our Lord. “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith.” – 1 John 5:3-4.

Welcome year 2021 with faith. Not faith in our selves or faith in the government that it can solve the problems at hand but faith in God. This is the armor that we need. Our faith in God is the unshakable ground when all else feels like a thin thread. It holds us and keeps us strong. This is the very thing that will point us to the right way in life. When COVID-19 ravaged the world, it is only through faith in the righteous, sovereign, faithful, and loving God Jesus Christ my Lord that I was able to overcome anxiety. I was able to sleep peacefully and wake up each day with a sense of security because I know who holds my tomorrow. It strengthened my faith in Jesus all the more. This allowed me to have a new and deeper perspective about life. Life is a gift from God. God gives life and He takes it away. We only have borrowed time because even time is a grace from the Lord. The shortness of life made me realize how important it is to focus more on God, on family, friends, and on things that have eternal consequences such as loving others and helping the needy. Year 2020 opened a newness in my walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. So this coming year 2020 take hold of God and never let go of Him. Start walking in newness of life. This is the win of life — to walk in newness through the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the victory we have in this world. That is, to live the life we have for God. “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” – Romans 6:4. Then you can realize just as I did that even COVID turns the world into a dreary place, there is peace, there is hope, and there is strength. And even with the economic downhill, there is provision, there is help, and there is support. When God is on our side, who can be against us? When we put our faith in God, He does not dissappoint us!
