You Are Not Alone

The hardest material on earth needs to be cut and broken to make it beautiful. Diamonds need to be shaped and given an appealing look so they are cut to sizes and shapes and designed to make them exquisite. Flowers that give fragrant essence have to be crushed and broken so we could use them to their fullest purpose. The process of crushing and breaking is very far from the look of the expensive diamond ring in a lady’s finger or the most expensive perfume a man wears. Before it became a most prized commodity and a wonder to the eyes of many, it was crushed, cut, and broken to pieces. A painful process but it happens to all of us.

God allows us to be crushed and broken to fulfill our ultimate purpose. Crushing and breaking involves a lot of pain and difficulty. It is a dark journey marked with fear, doubt, and loneliness. All of us pass through this. It is in many forms and many ways. We feel like we are thrown at the bottom of a dark pit. At times, we feel hopeless. Yet, even when we feel alone in this crushing times, there is a hand holding us. Whatever dark or difficult situation we are in, God is there with us. “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18. God does not take us out from the difficulty, but He helps get through it. So Jesus prayed to the Father, “I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.” – John 17:15. Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33. We have to go through the hardship and the pain. It is part of the growth process, discipline, and molding of God to us. There are a lot of things that we learn best in pain than in ease. Though it is difficult, the best and real comfort we have is that God is with us in the crushing times. Those who are in Jesus, the crushing is just a time of breaking but it is not a time of defeat! Jesus has overcomed the world, and so we can too because we are in Him. The fact is, we are just passing through it as one of the seasons of life. Most of these painful seasons actually numb us from feeling that God is carrying us through it. The Word tells us that the righteous live by faith (Galatians 3:11). Faith in Jesus dictates us that no matter what we see and feel, we know God is working for us and through us. No matter how alone we feel, God is with us and strengthening us. The truth is, we are never alone. We should not listen to the lies that feelings impress upon us. We should stick to the truth that God is near to the brokenhearted and He saves us when we are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
