Can’t Hold It In!

When you are so full of God, you just can’t hold it in! Like a cup of overflowing water which fills to the brim and filling it more that it spills out is a life that is filled by God’s presence. It cannot be contained. It cannot be hidden. It cannot be silenced. I remember the first time I had my personal encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ! I just could not contain it. I had to tell my family, my friends, and even wanted to tell strangers of how amazing and great is the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. That is the natural response of a person who meets God in a personal level. When a heart has encountered God, it speaks what David said, “I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; behold, I have not restrained my lips, as you know, O LORD. I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart; I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation; I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.” – Psalm 40:9-10.

Tell the world who Jesus is! Well, it is not necessarily, the whole world. But you can start with your friends and your family. You can start in your work place. I have always believed that a saved soul is always compelled to tell others about the Lord Jesus! It becomes an inherent desire in a believer to share to others about God’s saving grace, His love, His faithfulness, and His goodness. It becomes a joy to be able to shine as light to others in ways that God provided for each of us. A saved soul has that thirst and longing to speak about the Lord Jesus Christ! The heart burns for it. This is exactly what Jeremiah experienced. “If I say, ‘I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,’ there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.’”- Jeremiah 20:9. Sometimes, there are certain situations and reasons that may hinder you from sharing to others about God. Like Jeremiah, he felt great fear and frustration because his life was in danger for speaking God’s Word and telling people the truth (Jeremiah 20:7-10). Not all was pleased to hear the truth. It is still true up to this time. It is not all the time that our testimony of God will be received with joy and acceptance. There are times when God’s Word will be unheeded and rejected. But do not keep it in. Keep on telling others about God. Keep on sharing. After all, even if you try to keep your mouth shut, it would still spill out. Your heart cannot do otherwise. When your courage fails you, remember Jesus’ words, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20. Be of good courage because He is with you.
