The safest place we can ever be is in God. It is in God that we could be assured of true security, joy, peace, and life.
We always have someone who we consider “the shoulder to cry on”. For me, it is God. The Lord is my shoulder to cry on. He is my closet where I lock myself to cry whenever I am sad or troubled. I like to hide when I am hurting, frightened, or sorrowful. I hide in God. Where else could I find a better place to hide but in the presence of the Almighty God? Truly, when we are beset by troubles, we seek a retreat that would not only shelter us but also strengthen us. It could only be found in the presence of the Lord. He is the hiding place that does not just comfort us but also guides us to the everlasting path.

What joy, what blessing to be in the presence of God.
– Psalms 84:10 (WEB)
God is our shield. Like a shield that protects and defends, God is our constant protector and defender from the enemy of our soul. We must always remember that following God is a daily spiritual battle with the forces of darkness.
– 1 Peter 5:8 (WEB)
– Ephesians 6:12 (WEB)
We need God’s power to overcome and be victorious over the enemy. This is only possible when we submit to God’s authority.
God is also a shield to us in stormy seasons of life. He does not stop the storm but He shelters us in times of storm. Like strong winds and rain. That brings flood and great destruction, the storms of life can destroy our peace, weaken our hope, and flood us with fear. It is during the storm that we could experience the might of God to shield us and shelter us.
Having hope is the most important thing we need when we are in a storm. Hope keeps us alive and gives us the motivation to keep on. It makes us want to persevere on fighting and looking forward for better days.
There is no other source of hope with sure footing than hoping in God. Whenever I read the Word of God, there is one thing that is always constant. It is the stirring of hope within my spirit. The Word of God inspires me and quickens my spirit to hope for goodness, blessings, and answers! Without Him, I could not find an enduring and firm hope in anything else or from somebody else. He alone gives me hope through His Word.
– Psalms 43:5 (WEB)
