Lord, I say I walk with You,
Let it be real in all I do.
Give me love, joy and peace,
Deep within, all of these!
Lord, I say I believe in You,
Let me obey you in all I do.
Help me to be patient and kind,
To be good, your light I shine.
Lord, I say I trust in You,
Let me show it in all I do.
Help me overcome my unbelief,
Let faith arise, fears relieved!
Lord, I say that I love you,
May my life show I truly do.
Gentle and self-controlled,
Not flesh but Your Spirit’s hold.
One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Galatians 5:22-23 because they show how much beautiful, pure, and godly are the qualities of a Spirit-led life. These are also my quick and unfailing reminder of how God wants me to behave when I am tempted to step out of the line because I am triggered by toxic people or toxic circumstances. These verses never fail to have that powerful effect on me, as if telling me, “Chill, stop, think, and don’t have it your way. Leave it to God. His way.” But, being stubborn at times, I can’t guarantee a 100% obedience. Still, I hold on to these to keep me in the right path.
Walking in God’s Spirit is truly beautiful. It makes us a beautiful person in and out. Imagine a heart rid of all bitterness, anger, resentment, envy, pride, and lies. All of these are replaced with love, joy, and peace! “Oh what a foretaste of glory divine”, a line I would like to borrow from an old worship hymn. When we are filled by the Spirit of God, we walk with His Spirit and we become a new person. We don’t walk according to the rules or dictates of the flesh. We become patient, kind, good, faithful, and gentle. We gain self-control! Hallelujah!
Let us choose this life with God. Walk in the Spirit of God.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is now law. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit. Let’s not become conceited, provoking one another and envying one another.“– Galatians 5:22-26 (WEB)
I pray that the fruit of the Holy Spirit makes your life abundantly blessed! Be filled!
