My Papang

Father’s Day always brings precious memories of my dear papang who passed away in 2018. He was a good, gentle, patient, and dependable father. Losing him after losing my mother in 2017 was like boring a hole in my life that would never be filled again.

This Father’s Day I would like to remember my papang’s loving ways and His fear of God that shaped my faith as I was growing up. One thing that I would never miss seeing him from day to day, when he was still alive, was his daily time of reading the Bible and praying. He would sit at the edge of his bed or at a corner holding the Bible open. Sometimes, I would see him motionless with his eyes closed and I knew he was praying. These scenes play vividly in my mind as if they just happened afresh. The memories always remain fresh in my mind.

Fathers are our anchor and strength. They are the leader of the family. It is important that fathers teach their children the fear of God. Fathers should model their faith in God to their children. They should be bearers of the light of God in the family.

My father was a great influence to me in knowing God and serving the Lord. We may not have the perfect family or the perfect faith but I praise the Lord for giving me a father who chose to teach me about God and the saving grace through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Now, he may not be with me anymore but I had already come to know a faithful heavenly Father, my Abba Father, who loves me and cares for me.

God is our faithful and loving Father who showers us His perfect love and abundant grace. He is our ultimate source of strength. He provides with all of our needs and He stays with us in every circumstance we face. Call on the Father and put your faith in Him. Experience His embrace of love and comfort of peace in every moment.

“Like a father has compassion on his children, so Yahweh has compassion on those who fear him.”

– Psalms 103:13 (WEB)

To all the fathers in the world, a very happy father’s day! Let us spend a short while to pray for all the fathers that they bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit in their life, that they will be blessed with wisdom and understanding from God, that they shall live in fear of God as they love and lead their family, and that they shall have the strength, endurance, peace, and joy to stand firm in their obedience to God.

Finally, to my dear husband, Arvin, a wonderful happy father’s day! You are the rock in our home. We praise God with a cheerful heart because of your life. We love you always.

With my husband, Arvin.

  2. What a lovely tribute to your father. Would to God every child had a father like yours! The Apostle Paul said that we have not many fathers, but thank God for those of us who have not had an earthly father’s love, the love of our Heavenly Father sustains us. His arms hold us evermore.
How wonderful it must be for your father to look down from heaven and see his daughter walking in his footsteps.
    Love and blessings,
    ❤️Michele
