Look to God for help. When we are helpless, call on God. When we are down, call on God. When we are weak, call on God. When we are sick, call on God. In every distress, our call for help should be on God who makes a way. He is faithful and He promises to answer anyone who calls to Him in faith.
The most difficult part of going through a distress in life is when everything seems to be dark and God’s answer seems to be obscured. We are assailed by helplessness, doubts, worry, and even hopelessness. Even during this time of darkness that we could not sense how God moves, we must keep our faith and call on Him still. God is faithful to His promise. Keep holding on to His Word.
Here are some of the passages in God’s Word that encourages my spirit to keep my faith in Him.
“It will happen that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.”
– Isaiah 65:24 (WEB)
“Cast your burden on Yahweh and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.”
– Psalms 55:22 (WEB)
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
– Philippians 4:6 (WEB)
”Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and difficult things, which you don’t know.”
– Jeremiah 33:3 (WEB)
God is able to relieve us from our distress. Distress is marked by pain and suffering. I believe that we all have this. All of us carry pain and suffering in one way or another.
Blessed is the one whose help is YAHWEH! He is God over all situations. Sovereign and great in power. We should be confident to go to God and call on Him for we have a High Priest, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
King David’s prayer in Psalm 4 is something I could relate to. It speaks of honest surrender and honest seeking that he could not do anything to help himself out of his distress. It shows his faith in the ability of God to save and help. It shows how prayer means a lot in David’s faith in God. He knew where His help could come from. He knew it is God who has the power to help him.
“Answer me when I call, God of my righteousness. Give me relief from my distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.”
– Psalms 4:1 (WEB)
Let us call on God and seek for His help and mercy. May we experience God’s power of salvation to relieve us from the distress that cause us fear, worry, and anxiety. Let us persistently pray and never cease to pray. Let us continue to believe in Him and what His Word says. Continue to walk steadfastly obedient to God.
“But know that Yahweh has set apart for himself him who is godly; Yahweh will hear when I call to him. Stand in awe, and don’t sin. Search your own heart on your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness. Put your trust in Yahweh. Many say, “Who will show us any good?” Yahweh, let the light of your face shine on us. You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and their new wine are increased. In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, Yahweh, make me live in safety.”
– Psalms 4:3-8 (WEB)
As we wait for God’s salvation from our distress, be still and trust God. Be still and do not forsake obedience to His Word. Offer the right sacrifices to God. Wait on God. He shall give us gladness and peace!
Amen to this! Being a Christian, i learned that waiting for God’s answer on certain situation is more of hopes rather than disappointments.. I always claim that God is preparing bigger things for me, and i would really jump for joy as i will receive His answer. But there is a secret, for me being so hopeful, as i am waiting, i will do all my all to please God, in all things, including my emotions. I would really cry out to him telling him every frustrations i have wyl waiting. And telling Him that i am very hopeful because I know Him so well. A very loving and faithful God, and will never ever abandon us. Proven and tested many many many many times, all the time. That’s why hold on and be hopeful. Just patiently wait and endure, blessings are on its way. ❤️❤️❤️
