Life Sustained by God

What sustains you each day? What nourishes your spirit? What keeps you going? What supports you mentally and emotionally? What keeps you strong?

There are people who wake up each day feeling lost and hopeless. There are those who try their best to cope with their inner conflict by denial or by finding ways to drown out the insistent voice of anxiousness and fear. Waking up each day for them is like dragging their feet to start the day and meet the challenges ahead. It must be wearisome and painful. They must find something each day to give them a reason to keep living. Life becomes a surviving matter.

It is not a satisfied life to live for the sake of existing and surviving. The greatest satisfaction is living our purpose. The best purpose is living for the will of God. Then, it is from God that we draw support to face life and live meaningfully.

“My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

– Psalm 73:26 (WEB)

We sleep and rise up because God sustains us. There is such quietness in the spirit, such strength in the innermost being, such peace in our soul, and such firm hope when God is the sustainer of our life.

When God sustains us, He bears us up allowing us to have extra strength and extra grace. We have a surplus of strength and blessings that can come in different forms and in unexpected ways. Truly, He works and supplies our need far above our imagination.

It is God who sustains me each day. It is God who sustains my husband and I as we go through a difficult problem right now, not in our marriage, but in our financial needs. It is something that we could not get our head around it. Yet, like king David who looked to God as His sustainer when his life was threatened by his own son, we look and hold on to God. And we know, our hold onto Him are flimsy. It is God’s hold upon us that truly sustains us. It is He who bears us up. It is God who continuously renews our hope each day. It is God who gives us the peace and the cheerfulness to face life. Our spirits are not cast down because the One who holds us and who sustains us is the Maker of the universe, the greatest love for us all who gave His only Son to die on the cross for us, the One who never leaves us or forsakes us, and the One who is sovereign over all things for all time to eternity. So, like king David, we also say God is a shiled around us, the One who lifts up our head. God answers our cry. We sleep and we wake up because God sustains us. We shall not be afraid.

“But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head. I cry to Yahweh with my voice, and he answers me out of his holy hill. I laid myself down and slept. I awakened, for Yahweh sustains me. I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people who have set themselves against me on every side.

– Psalms 3:3-6 (WEB)

Walk in God and rely on Him. Let obedience mark your faith in God as you wait on Him for salvation and deliverance. Security in God is sure. The grace of God is aboundingly sufficient for each day. The Lord shall be your strength. He shall sustain you in your greatest need. He will keep you safe and He shall not abandon you.

  1. Amen and amen! I always believe that His thoughts and ways are always fea beyond ours. We may not understand what is happening right now, but one thing is for sure, He is working, and the result would always be the best for us. I praise God for this post. I need to hear this. Thank you mam Deb.❤️❤️❤️
