God Fights for You

God delivers you from troubles and from your enemies. For God’s children, there is always hope in the midst of troubles. Even when enemy surrounds, hope does not fade away.

King David did not lose hope when he was fleeing from his rebellious son Absalom. He prayed to God for he knew that God was his deliverer and savior from his enemies.

Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased! Many are those who rise up against me. Many there are who say of my soul, ‘There is no help for him in God.’ But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

– Psalms 3:1-3 (WEB)

Even when circumstances around you seem to say “there is no help for you” or even when the enemies seem so great, God remains a shield around you. He will lift up your head and cause you to overcome. David was confident of God’s salvation and His hope in God demonstrated at the lowest point in his life when even his own favorite son sought to steal the throne from him.

No trouble is too great to a greater God. When troubles are great, God is greater. When problems are great, God is greater. When enemies are great, God is greater. God is greater than any trouble we could face. This is the great hope we have in a great God.

When Gibeon made peace with Israel and became the servants of Israel, other kingdoms were terrified of Israel for Gibeon was a mighty city and one of the royal cities (Joshua 10:2). Because of this great fear, the 5 kings of Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon and all their armies joined together to fight against Gibeon. But Gibeon sought the help of Israel and God promised Joshua that He will be wih them to save them from the great armies (Joshua 10:3-6).

“Yahweh said to Joshua, ‘Don’t fear them, for I have delivered them into your hands. Not a man of them will stand before you.’”

– Joshua 10:8 (WEB)

The armies were great in number but Joshua and the whole of Israel were confident of God’s deliverance. He is mightier than their enemies. And, God fought for Israel.

  • God confused their enemies (Joshua 10:10).
  • God hurled down great stones from the sky killing their enemies (Joshua 10:11).
  • God caused the sun to stand still and the moon to stop (Joshua 10:12).
  • God gave all their enemies over to Israel and Israel won all the battles (Joshua 10:15-43).

“There was no day like that before it or after it, that Yahweh listened to the voice of a man; for Yahweh fought for Israel.”

– Joshua 10:14 (WEB)

Joshua took all these kings and their land at one time because Yahweh, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.”

– Joshua 10:42 (WEB)

What was their secret? Yahweh was with them. God fought for Israel and gave them victory.

As God fought mightily for Israel when they needed and when they fought in His name with complete dependnce on Him, so He could be your mighty deliverer in whatever great trouble you face today. Only believe, trust, and obey the LORD as Joshua and Israel did. Rely on God and let Him take the lead because when God fights for you, you are a sure winner! When God fights for you, not even time or armies could stand. Your troubles and your enemies shall not stand before you.

  1. Winning the battle because God fought for you is the best feeling ever. But this will not happen if we only believe then we don’t trust and obey. Most of us unconsciously, we do this most of the time.. we pray, but we do it our way. I am trying to change my perspectives in life, this time i will try my best to just really let God do His way for me. It’s quite hard but it’s really rewarding. I’m still a work in progress in this area. I’m praying that I hope i can make it. Thank you for today mam Debs. I love you!❤️❤️❤️
