God works in ways we cannot see. We just cannot comprehend God’s ways. It is unfathomable even to the smartest of man. It is because of our limited understanding that we tend to doubt if God is for us in the difficult times we face. Because we could not sense His mighty hand at work or we could not see Him lifting up the heavy clouds away from us, we tend to think that He is not near to our troubles.
During the early stages of my faith and I was getting to know God, I thought that I needed to sense His presence every time I faced a problem, I carried heaviness in my heart, I struggled with sin, or whenever I was discouraged. But, I have learned that His presence is never dependent by my limited senses. As I continue to grow in faith, I learned to understand that Christians are to “live by faith” and that faith is not dependent on how I feel. Whether I see or sense God’s hand working out solution to my problem or not, it does not equate to Him being with me or not because the truth is His presence is constantly there with me. He is faithful and He works even when I could not see it. He is with me even when I could not sense that all the time.
God is ever present in our needs and troubles because He works in ways we could not see. We need to trust that out of His great love and sovereignty, He is moving for our cause.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”– Psalm 46:1 (WEB)
We may not see it, but God sends out His army to help us in our battles. The spiritual realm is as real as we are. But the spiritual realm is not meant for us to see and to be preoccupied with. However, God chooses people to give them a peek of what it is like in the spiritual realm. In the Old Testament especially, this happens, when some people could see and speak with angels. In Joshua 5, Joshua whom God sent to lead Israel to battle against Jericho, saw a man with his sword drawn and so he asked the man if he is for Israel or against Israel (Joshua 5:13).
“He said, ‘No; but I have come now as commander of Yahweh’s army.’ Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and worshiped, and asked him, ‘What does my lord say to his servant?’ The prince of Yahweh’s army said to Joshua, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place on which you stand is holy.’ Joshua did so.”– Joshua 5:14-15 (WEB)
Whenever we are facing a battle, especially the battles God sends us to, the spiritual world is also in high alert. God sends His army of angels to go before us, be with us, and fight with us and for us. As with Joshua and Israel when God assured them victory over their enemy and sent an army to be with His people, God is surely moving and fighting in your battle. You may not see it yet but God is working.
Whenever you feel discouraged, troubled, hopeless, down, depressed, or heavy with troubles, keep fighting. Fight with prayers and faith. Keep on fighting and trust that God is working out the solution according to His great will. His presence abides even when you cannot feel it or see it.
