Where do you need healing? I have recently been preoccupied with thoughts of healing and prayer for healing. This I specifically refer to physical healing as five days ago I suddenly felt sick. Then I was continuously plagued by fever, on and off. With the rising COVID-19 cases in our city which sent us in critical situation, I was worried about my condition. Thankfully, I am much better now. God hears and He heals!
The need for healing is not only needed and applicable to physical ailments. The heart, the spirit, and the mind need healing too. It is amazing to know that God, the Great Physician, majors in all kinds of diseases. Be it physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Name it and God can heal it. This tragedy with COVID-19 and the sickness it brings can all be handled by our Great Healer.
“Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness.” -Psalm 41:3 (WEB)
God can heal all kinds of diseases. There is a disease that God is especially concerned about. This disease is more grievous than cancer of any kind. This is the cancer of the heart. It is the cancer of the soul. Only God can heal this. This disease is called SIN. When Jeremiah prayed,
“Heal me, O Yahweh, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise.” – Jeremiah 17:14 (WEB)
he was not referring to a physical sickness. It is the sickness that is far more difficult to be cured. It is the sickness that afflicts the heart of man affecting even their mental states. It is the sin of man. And take a moment to ponder on Jeremiah’s prayer. He has that great and sure confidence on whom to call for help. He knew that only God can save. Only God is able to heal a sinful heart. Jeremiah was so sure that he was able to say if God heals, he will be healed. He was sure that if God saves, he will be saved. He was sure that God will answer what he prayed for. He was praying for healing from sin as a prophet of the people of Israel who represents the sinful nation.
“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds. For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. ” – 1 Peter 2:24-25 (WEB)
Jesus Christ did just that when He died on the cross and resurrected again. He offers anyone who comes to believe in Him and follow Him, a healing from sin, guilt, and shame. He offers peace and new life.
If God is able to turn any crooked and sinful life around and make it new, will healing you physically be that difficult?
“Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” – Psalm 103:2-5 (WEB)
