Do you long for a blessed life? A blessed life is a life that is favored by God. It is a life marked with prosperity and success. Who would not like that? Men live and toil to succeed and prosper in life. The ambition to be prosperous is the driving force of mankind to live, thrive, and work. Everyone longs to be blessed in one way or another because along with blessedness is happiness. A blessed life is a happy life. “The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.” – Proverbs 10:22.
If you want to have a blessed life, choose God. That would mean “choosing God everyday” using the very words of Sue Love in one of her blogs. Choosing God everyday entails a daily commitment of His Lordship over you. He has the first say. You trust God in His wisdom and in His love for you. Choosing God everyday means a daily walk of obedience to His will. Choosing God everyday is kneeling to His presence and His will for you. In the olden times, when one would receive a blessing, he has to kneel down before the one who gives the blessing. Kneeling down signifies the act of acceptance, humility, and submission. It is recognizing that the bestower of the blessing is the one in authority. He is the source of the blessing. God is the bestower of the blessing. He alone can give you a blessed life. But to be able to receive that blessing, you need to kneel down to His Lordship. He is LORD and there is no other lord and no other god besides Him. Only Jesus and Him alone is the God and Lord of your life. He requires none the less. “And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” – Matthew 22:37. To do this is to entrust your very life to God. “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:7-8. “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” – Psalm 1:1-3. This kind of blessing is not the blessing of the world. It is a sure and permanent blessing that stays even in the times of lack and times of difficulties. Like a tree with its roots continuously refreshed by the water in the stream is a life rooted in the Lord, the Living Water.
