Living Your Mission

Have they seen a glimpse of Jesus through you? As a follower of Jesus Christ, we all have a mission to do. That is, to speak of His saving grace and show to others His amazing love. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20. We are to teach others about Jesus Christ. It is not necessarily needed to put up a school or a building to do this. We can teach others about Jesus in the way we live. We all have different gifts and using our gifts to tell others about Jesus can be a good way to show them who Jesus is. Whatever way we use to do this mission, the main focus is Jesus and His grace. In whatever way we choose to bring the Good News to others, we should always put Christ as the center of the message. “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” – 2 Timothy 4:2. We preach Jesus. We preach His Word. We should not preach ourselves, our church, or our ideas. And we should always be ready to give an answer to those who question us. “but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,” -1 Peter 3:15.

Have they known Jesus through you? Sometimes we are consumed by fear that we are not capable to teach others about Jesus. Not only because we have some doubts but also because we are too much concerned of what others would think about us. When I was still in my teen years and up to my early 20’s, I had this desire to tell others about Jesus. But I had been struggling about what people would be thinking about me sharing to them the gospel. I felt afraid and eventually, I just could not bring myself to do it even if I wanted to. I go to church and I lead the worship service for the young people in our church but I could not do the “go and make disciples and to teach others”. Then I came to the point when I just rationalized it as “anyway, I serve God in the music ministry and I attend church every sunday”. I thought, maybe, that could cover up. But deep inside me, I still have that desire to really tell others about God. After some time, I gathered some courage to do it. By God’s grace, I was able to share to a friend about the Lord Jesus Christ. And from there, it becomes easier each time to do so. Praise the Lord for His grace and wisdom. One thing I realized. When we are a follower of God, it is impossible for us to keep from talking about His grace and His love. It becomes a natural thing for Christians to openly proclaim Jesus’ goodness and message of Good News. Like Apostle Paul, we should not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ (Romans 1:16). We should be living our mission.

As believers of Christ, we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14). We should not hide our light. We have a great role to play. There are many people who need the Lord Jesus Christ more than they are willing to admit it. We need to tell others of His grace and the great hope we have in Him. Without us, how can the world know about Jesus? “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” – Romans 10:14. We can start with our own family or with our own friends.

  1. Yes, I agree or more important scripture agrees. There is nothing else other than the good news or Gospel of Christ Mark 16:15-16… preach or teach Christ crucified 1 Corinthians 2:2 and that salvation is based on his shed blood and his imputed righteousness which is the power of God unto salvation to every believing Romans 1:16-17, Romans 3:24,25, Romans 4:5-8… no flesh will be justified in eyes of God based on their works Romans 3:11-12, 3:19,20,21,22,23… Each person that hears the truth that has been regenerated by God will believe and He will not lose one of them but will raise them up in the last day John 6:37-44…. That is Good News…once a believer ..always a believer.. because he promises to preserve those that have been generated unto belief from above 2 Corinthians 4:6, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Acts 13:48, John 3.3-8

      1. It is so nice to hear someone else has ears to hear and a heart to understand. Very few people understand but Jesus said that is the way it would be …so I shouldn’t be surprised and I’m really not surprised but I can’t express how really nice it has been to hear from you
