There is only one best friend forever. It is only God. When we become friends with God, we learn and understand how friendship with Him is worth more than all riches and ambitions we aspire. He is the only one who can make us stand secure and joyful even when others throw stones at us to make us feel so small as if we do not amount to anything at all. When God is with us, the noisy judgment of the world becomes a soundless and senseless banging. They hurt but they do not matter. They wound but they do not run deep. It is all superficial. So we do not feel worthless whatever painful word shoots out from their poisonous tongue. Because when we are rooted in God, we realize that our audience is not them. We live for only one audience. That is God alone. Ultimately, it is God’s opinion that matters and not theirs. We do not fear them nor cower before them. Our confidence comes from the Lord. We see them with the eyes of grace and treat them with the love of Jesus. We let it go. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” – Romans 8:31.
